Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 (SM-F956B)
- Brand: Samsung
- Model: SM-F956B (Galaxy Z Fold 6)
- Android version: 16 (One UI 8.5)
- Kernel: 6.1.x (6.1.145 on current firmware)
- SoC: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SM8650)
- Bootloader: locked — One UI 8 builds ship without the OEM-unlock toggle
- Root status: temp root (per-boot) — KernelSU-Next
Root methods (what works)
- Temp root: local kernel exploit (per-boot; su daemon survives until reboot). Verified on F956BXXS4DZI1.
- Persistent root: none public yet — bootloader unlock required first.
Unlock notes
- One UI 8 removed the OEM-unlock option entirely on bit-4 builds.
-
The device's unlock flag was proven to already be set — the bit-4
ablsimply ignores it. No software state unlocks this device; work continues on the boot chain.
Gotchas
- Do not take firmware updates that patch the local-exploit primitive — keep OTA agents disabled.
- Knox trips the moment anything custom runs.
- Bit-downgrade flashing is refused by the device (SW REV CHECK FAIL).
